My costume portrays Loki, the age-old trickster, gender-bent in the 1920s. I took inspiration from skull caps, Poiret’s cocoon coats, and other silhouettes from the era. All components are made by me, with the exception of shoes, furs, and necklace (all thrifted and vintage pieces). I used vintage reproductions of 1920s patterns to sew these garments and tried to follow historically accurate techniques whenever possible.
Photos below document the current status of my costume. I plan on adding final elements before April 26th including gold lamé horns and an organza beaded overdress.
Materials include, but are not limited to: Linen, organza, crushed velvet, felt, lamé, sequins, glass seed beads, and more.
